Community guidelines

Welcome to Between the Lines

BTL is a community where you can discuss and debate issues relating to drugs with others and find information and help, which ultimately informs and reduces problematic use.

Be alert but not alarmed - these guidelines, along with the Between the Lines Terms & Conditions, are designed to make sure we have a community that’s safe, happy and healthy.

Member guidelines

  • Be yourself. BTL is space where a range of opinions can be expressed and a healthy discussion generated. So be true to yourself and most importantly, don’t impersonate someone else (we’ll love you just the way you are..!).
  • Don’t post about how many drugs that you have taken or plan to take, are in your possession or that you can get. It actually doesn’t make you sound cool and we don't want to be put into a position of having to tell the police about your drug use (see our Terms & Conditions for more info).
  • Don’t post, ask or discuss sources for ANY substance; this includes substances that are pseudo-legal, semi-legal, 'neo-legal' or whatever. BTL is not here to help you get drugs.
  • Don’t post brand or company names of "legal highs" substances.
  • Respect what others think and believe. It's very important that your posts don't make others uncomfortable or too embarrassed to express their viewpoint.
  • Don’t rant. It's great to put forward your opinion and ideas on an issue but keep it short and to the point.

Stay legal

  • DON'T solicit the sale of prohibited substances online. This means no dealing. BTL is not a place to get or sell drugs. In fact if you talk about buying or selling drugs you put us in a position of having to tell the police. An extension to this guideline is that we don't allow sources for anything to be posted (check out our Terms & Conditions for more info).  This means no URLs for online supply, no listing of sources to buy or obtain ANYTHING.
  • DON’T request information on the quality, availability OR pricing of street drugs, pharmaceuticals or anything else. Any threads on the topic of chemical glut/shortage/availability will be closed or deleted immediately.
  • Respect copyright. Don’t upload anything that isn’t yours or that you don’t have permission to use (this includes images, music, videos etc).
  • Don’t steal someone else’s ideas or words. Give credit where credit’s due; include a list of references you consulted at the bottom of your content pages.
  • No defamatory comments. Don’t post anything that could damage the reputation of an individual, organisation or event.
  • Don’t post content which is harassing, threatening, abusive, offensive, obscene or indecent.

Be accurate

  • Use accurate information to justify your arguments and opinions.
  • Use sources or links to support your contributions.
  • Don’t repost stuff again and again and again.
  • No personal information (yours or anyone else’s).
  • The commenting space is for exploring issues, it is NOT a place for you to get help for your problems. If you want help, check out the Get Help section.
  • Don’t post personal information. This includes your email address, mobile phone number, your place of work etc.
  • Don’t post photos of yourself.
  • Don’t sell or advertise inappropriate stuff.
  • It’s only ok to promote products and services that support charities and different issues (for example wrist bands, t-shirts etc).
  • Don’t pimp/promote events.

Breaking the rules

There are consequences to breaking the rules. If you tell us something serious we'll have to report it to the police. Other consequences may include your content being deleted and your account being suspended or deleted.

Think a member has broken the rules? Click the ‘Report this’ link and let us know!

Last thing

These Community Guidelines were written to compliment the Between the Lines Terms & Conditions. It’s really important that you are familiar with these—remember you signed them when you registered! Use the link above to refresh your memory if you can't remeber what you agreed to.

We welcome any comments, questions or suggestions about these guidelines. Email us at duaj@noffs.org.au.

Hope you enjoy your time in the community – we’re looking forward to the conversations ahead!
