As we count down the hours to 2010, and rev up for a big party at Sensation in Melbourne (that'll attract around 40,000 people), it comes as no surprise that police have stated that they will again be there in force with sniffer dogs.
Has anything changed since last year? Police claim they want to 'deter drug users and reduce the number of overdoses' but I'm wondering if having sniffer dogs will do either. Is there any research to back up the claim that sniffer dogs deter drug use? I'm wondering if it simply drives us to take our chosen poison behind closed doors before we get there - which surely carries much more risk of harm/overdose?
What are you up to tonight? And what are your strategies for reducing harm/maximising pleasure?
Whatever you do, play safe(r) and happy 2010!
