What is problematic drug use?

How do you know if a friend's drug use is becoming problematic?

Drugs can lift your mood, relax or even energise you. On the flipside, drug use can become problematic when it has negative results on your relationships, your life in general, and your mental and physical health.

However, what one person considers 'problematic' may be considered 'normal' for someone else.

Check out the Assessing your drug use fact sheet for info around what might constitute problematic usage.

Ultimately it’s your friend’s choice to decide whether or not taking the drug is a problem or not – and whether or not they choose to reduce or stop using.
